Budapest !

I don't really know how I ended up in Budapest, I can say that I had never dreamt of going there, or really knew much about it...but tickets were cheap and a few au pair friends were going, so I decided to join in. From the hostel to the food to the sunsets to the people, everything about what I saw in this country was welcoming and genuine. It was the Spring Festival, and as the man in our Hostel said, "spring just arrived two days ago", so people were full of joy. We walked and walked and spent every moment we could outside because the weather was perfect. There was a humungous market right next to the Hostel, and we spent a little bit too much time in there. We went to the public baths, which were so incredibly beautiful; yellow buildings with a sky growing darker and darker blue against it. I had my first wine tasting experience in an underground cellar, and we discovered castles in parks and even saw a wedding! I really noticed a difference in character from the swiss people, in that the Hungarians..ummm are just nicer. (; I felt more welcome and enjoyed as a person there, while in Switzerland I sometimes feel inadequate or a burden.
It is now springtime here, and the flowers are bloooming! I have some pretty special friends that I hope to keep when I leave, and will now start my spring break. The family is going to France, and I am staying at the house with one of the french grandmas, who used to own her own restaurant. She is willing to teach me and I am so eager to learn! We have already made a strawberry and a chocolate tiramisu, and some soups so I can't wait for the tranquil week ahead..there might actually be silence in this house! As for me, I have to go to sleep bc we just had a cheese fondue for dinner, and let's just say it fills you up and knocks you out! Good night all, love from the land of the cheese!
